As part of the redevelopment plan for the Fumon area, a statue of Kannon was installed outdoors as a symbolic landmark, enclosed within an exceptionally transparent glass skin so that it could be viewed and worshipped from every direction.
Each glass façade panel is composed of high-transparency tempered laminated glass using SGP interlayers and is designed as a self-supporting cantilever system from the base, simultaneously supporting the roof glass above. Within the corner joints, minimal anti-fall rods were incorporated to ensure safety even in the unlikely event of sealant failure.
To address maintenance and weathering concerns, the glass surfaces were treated with anti-soiling coatings, achieving a glass box that remains both highly transparent and resistant to dirt accumulation.
The glass width (short span) exceeds 3 meters, making it one of the largest glass panels of its kind produced domestically.
It is said that many people passing nearby enjoy viewing the rare Kannon statue, which can be appreciated from all four sides through the transparent enclosure.
