Sumitomo Realty’s Osaki Garden Tower, distinguished by its wave-like façade, has been completed.
Located on a site surrounded by multiple JR railway lines and the Shinkansen, the project required extremely high acoustic performance. The curtain wall system therefore employs sound-insulating laminated Low-E insulating glass, achieving a sound insulation performance equivalent to T-4 grade.
Ordinarily, vision glass and spandrel areas tend to appear different in color and reflectivity. To overcome this, numerous mock-up studies were carried out. By adopting high-performance reflective glass, TBL35, for the spandrel sections and carefully fine-tuning the backboard color, a unified curtain wall appearance was achieved that seamlessly matches the tone of the Low-E vision glass.
The low-rise glass screen was also carefully designed to reduce visual heaviness by tapering the lower portions of the glass ribs diagonally. In addition, the blind-stabilizing fittings were attached using SSG structural sealant bonding, contributing to a clean and minimal façade expression.
