大学内に設けられた大屋根とガラススクリーンが特徴的な図書館です。
大型Low−E複層ガラスを高透過ガラスFINで支えたファサードは多面体を描きながら端部に向かって大きくなり両サイドの入口に繋がって利用者を迎え入れてくれます。
太陽電池も設置された重い大屋根を支える柱を出来るだけ細くした事で繊細さと重厚さを兼ね備えたデザインとなりました。
風除室廻りではh/75という非常に大きな層間変位差を門型枠廻りの特殊な機構とシール、ガラスの許容ねじれで吸収することで大きなエクスパンションを設ける事無く成立しています。
この部分には倍強度Low-E合わせを用いた複層ガラスや7mを超える合わせLow-E複層など国内メーカーでは対応できない大寸法且つ高機能なガラスが使用され高透過ガラスFINの使用もあいまって内部吹抜け空間の透明性や明るさを上げる事に役立っています。
大きな軒と軒下までガラス1枚での施工は今回のような高重量、大寸法においては難易度が一気にあがりますが、工事店、施工職人の綿密な計画と建設会社の協力によってスムーズ安全に進める事が出来ました。

This university library is distinguished by its expansive roof canopy and large-scale glass screen façade.

The façade consists of large-format Low-E insulating glass supported by high-transparency glass fins. Formed as a faceted geometry that gradually expands toward the edges, the façade guides visitors naturally toward the entrances on both sides of the building.

By minimizing the size of the columns supporting the massive roof — which also incorporates photovoltaic panels — the design achieves a balance between delicacy and structural presence.

Around the entrance vestibule, an exceptionally large interstory drift ratio of h/75 is accommodated without the use of conspicuous expansion joints. This was achieved through a specialized mechanism integrated into the portal frame, combined with carefully engineered seal systems and the allowable torsional flexibility of the glass itself.

The project also incorporates exceptionally large and high-performance glazing products beyond the capability of standard domestic manufacturers, including double-strength Low-E laminated insulating glass and laminated Low-E insulating glass exceeding 7 meters in height. Together with the use of high-transparency glass fins, these elements greatly enhance the brightness and transparency of the interior atrium spaces.

Executing the façade with single glass panels extending continuously from the large canopy down beneath the soffit significantly increased the complexity due to the extreme glass size and weight. However, through meticulous planning by the specialist contractors and craftsmen, together with close collaboration from the construction team, the installation was completed safely and smoothly.
