川崎市の新本庁舎が竣工しました。スリットカーテンウォール及び高層部ガラスBOXをコンサルタントさせていただきました。幅の狭いスリットCWの特徴を活かして、中間無目を最小とした3辺支持アルミユニットCW、換気用ボイドを兼ね、壁面木パネルをきれいに見せる事のできる高透過ガラスを使用したフレームレス構造のガラスBOXなど重厚なデザインの庁舎でありながら、繊細なファサード技術が詰まっています。ガラスBOXは最小のフレームとガラスをDPGで繋いだユニットで構成され、世界でも珍しいガラスユニットCWとして施工されました。
Kawasaki City’s new City Hall headquarters has been completed, for which consulting services were provided for both the slit curtain wall system and the high-rise glass box façade.
Taking advantage of the narrow proportions characteristic of slit curtain walls, the façade adopts a three-side supported aluminum unitized curtain wall system with minimized intermediate transoms, creating a refined and vertically emphasized appearance.
The high-rise glass box structures serve simultaneously as ventilation voids and as transparent enclosures that beautifully showcase the interior timber wall panels. High-transparency glass and a frameless structural approach were employed to maintain clarity and openness.
Although the building presents the dignified and monumental character expected of a civic headquarters, it is filled with highly delicate façade engineering and detailing.
The glass boxes are composed of units in which minimal steel framing and glass panels are connected using DPG (Dot Point Glazing) technology. This resulted in a highly distinctive glass unitized curtain wall system rarely seen anywhere in the world.
